BECK 2004 26 episodes
BECK is a coming-of-age anime series that follows Yukao "Koyuki" Tanaka, a fourteen-year-old ordinary boy with no goals in life. Everything changes when he meets Ryuusuke 'Ray' Minami, who is a guitarist and former member of a popular rock band. As they get to know each other, Koyuki begins to see the beauty of rock music. Together with other members, they form a group called BECK to fulfill their dream on the most glamorous journey in music.
While Carol & Tuesday emphasizes the appeal of pop and classical music, as well as the art of songwriting aimed primarily at youth with its single-minded theme, BECK focuses on Western rock culture, which seems more energetic and violent. Both anime are worth watching if you are a big fan of various musical entertainments. Like Carol and Tuesday, BECK has English lyrics in most of its songs, which are full of meaningful words. Additionally, both anime have dramatic angles that resonate deeply with the audience.
And here, the voice actors have simply gorgeous voices, all the songs touch the soul.

“Children on the Slope is a very touching and inspiring anime, like the story of Carol and Tuesday. Although the anime has a different musical genre, it reflects the classic atmosphere of the musical show Carol & Tuesday. Both anime highlight the beauty of classical music in the most realistic approach.
Kin'iro no Chord: Prima Passo (Golden String)
An anime about a violinist and musicians in the genre: classical music, school, reverse harem.

The main character, named Hino, is neither a pianist nor a violinist. And in general, you can’t call her a musician, because nothing connects her with music. That was until the heroine met the same elf from the legend, who convinces Hino to participate in the school music competition. After all, as it turned out, the girl has incredible potential and talent. Now Hino will have to take part in the competition along with the local celebrities of the academy, who are all, by counting, handsome bishounens.

Without hiding the cry Spring 2017 12 episodes
Fukumenkei Noise is a romance story about young people, a 12-episode anime that is filled with melodramatic moments. It includes a love triangle, childhood flashbacks, and everything you might think of as typical scenarios when it comes to a teen romance story. Anime is nothing new to the romance world, but it will definitely sweeten your heart.
While this anime focuses more on the romance genre, unlike Carol and Tuesday, which are purely about music, Fukumenkei Noise still gives the same vibes with the dramatic aspect of Carol and Tuesday achieving her musical dream. Both anime are relatable to their purposeful stories, and both are pleasantly entertaining when it comes to their genre of music.
Hibike! Euphonium (Play, euphonium!)
An anime about female musicians and a school club in the genre: classical music, school.

New blood, in the form of a young music teacher and newly arrived students, helps the club wake up from a long slumber. One of the heroines, named Kumiko, who played in high school, joins the group and meets a fellow orchestra member there. Having made new friends, she and the others will have to once again become a close-knit team in order to again have the opportunity to participate in the competition.

Rating of the 10 best musical anime (Top-10)
Greetings, dear anime fans. As an introduction, I want to immediately clarify that in this rating I am not considering anime with the best musical accompaniment, but titles where music plays a significant role in the plot. I hope everyone understands the difference, because in some cases the statements mentioned do not correspond to each other. Why did I suddenly decide to create a ranking of the best music titles? Because I really love music and appreciate anime dedicated to it. Moreover, I love all kinds of genres and trends: from classical to electronic, from pop to hard rock - after all, in any of them you can find compositions to your liking. Likewise, anime dedicated to music come in a variety of genres: comedy, drama, everyday life, romance, action - there is no single prevailing genre among them, so they do not become boring and always look fresh. Okay, enough idle chatter - I present to your attention the Top 10 best musical anime titles.
K-On! (“Kayon!”)
Here is an anime that, along with SAO and Tokyo Ghoul , is subject to severe criticism despite the presence of an army of fans. Not to mention K-On! in the ranking of music titles would be a significant omission. It was created in the best traditions of the Kyoto Animation studio, whose creations have always been distinguished by extremely pretty heroines who are able to find something interesting in everyday life. (yes, yes, I'm looking at you, Haruhi). But we should not forget that cuteness, as a rule, tends to be meaningless and merciless. Therefore, I strongly do not recommend searching in K-On! any deep subtext, which, of course, is not there. This is a simple, slow, but cute and enjoyable title about cute schoolgirls doing cute things: eating cute cakes after school, solving their cute problems, and playing cute light rock music at rare concerts. Which, by the way, is very good. I would especially like to note the surprisingly high-quality endings, which are nothing more than clips of the songs of the main characters. Titles like K-On! must be watched strictly to relax the soul after a hard day at work, and it is pointless to look for any features not inherent in the genre in them. Still K-On! That's not what it was created for.
Angel Beats
Perhaps one can speculate and argue about the wisdom of adding Angel Beats to the ranking of the best music titles, because music is still not one of the prevailing themes of the series. However, I will still add it to the list. And I will do this for the sake of only one character - the girl Masami Iwasawa , and the only song written by her. My Song is the only Japanese song that I took the time to learn on the guitar. Firstly, it has an incredibly beautiful melody and meaningful lyrics. Secondly, My Song contains so much pain and hope, which fits so harmoniously into the plot that I simply could not help but mention it. It is when Iwasawa appears that Angel Beats finally begins to show its strongest features, and the powerful demonstration of the power of music on a person's life is one of them. After all, only music gave Iwasawa the strength to fight and live on. By the way, other songs from Angel Beats , played by Iwasawa’s group, also turned out to be quite decent.
Detroit Metal City
The time has come for death metal, a worthy representative of which in this rating is the crazy comedy called Detroit Metal City , aka DMC . Crazy because I don't know how else to describe an anime where the main character goes to Tokyo to become a member of a pop band singing about love, and ends up being the lead singer of a hardcore metal band. DMC offers you a visual guide to the life of a die-hard metalhead. Considering how much attention is paid to music in DMC, I believe that it is quite worthy of inclusion in the ranking. In addition, the comedy component in it turned out to be funny, original and provocative.
Sakamichi no Apollon ("Kids on the Slope")
Sakamichi no Apollon is, on the one hand, an overly sweet story with a very annoying romantic part and a far-fetched plot. That's why I don't rank this title higher. However, there is one feature in Sakamichi no Apollon that cannot be taken away from it - it is the magnificent music performed by the main characters, which, unfortunately, was not given as much time and attention as I would have liked. And all because jazz , which in the post-war years was absorbed into the consciousness of Japanese musicians like a sponge. Of course, who wouldn’t like to play music whose main rule is that there are no rules? Improvise, create, and enjoy the process - the main thing is that you like it yourself. Sakamichi no Apollon do with pleasure in the intervals between showdowns. Their music is still better...
Hibike, Euphonium ("Play, Euphonium")
A very pleasant anime about the life of a school brass band and the difficulties in relationships between its members. And again, everything is done in the best traditions of the Kyoto Animation studio - here and there you are met by extremely pretty and diverse heroines, thanks to the efforts of the artists, endowed with simply cosmic eyes that you just want to drown in. From the musical point of view of Hibike , Euphonium is interesting in how clearly it demonstrates the life of a brass band. For example, I had no idea how widespread such an original, seemingly musical art is in Japanese middle and high schools. In addition, you will learn a lot about the wind instruments that the heroines play.
Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda (“The Anthem of the Heart”, “The Heart Wants to Sing”, “Kokosake”)
Another anime about the harsh life of Japanese schoolchildren, this time a full-length one. Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda tells the story of a girl, Jun Naruse , who, when she was very young, lost her voice. Taking the blame for her parents' divorce, she lost the ability to talk, so as not to harm anyone else. However, while preparing for the school musical, she discovered that she had the ability to sing! Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda once again demonstrates the healing power of music, which can break through even the most powerful psychological barriers. Provided that the remaining components of the title are quite interesting, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with it. The film's release was too quiet in 2015, so many anime fans may have missed it.
Nana ("Nana")
A very life-like anime about a chance meeting of girls named Nana, which changed their lives forever. In fact, I would love to rank this title higher, but it pays too much attention to the relationships between the characters, and not much is left for the musical component of the anime. But, to be completely honest, the music in Nana performed by the characters turned out to be very cool - it’s not for nothing that actresses who speak both Japanese and English perfectly were invited as voice actors in the original voice acting. The opening scenes alone are worth it. Nana is a versatile title dedicated to the difficult lives of rock musicians and the relationships between them. The title is intended for girls, however, I also enjoyed watching it.
Nodame Cantabile ("Nodame Cantabile")
An excellent title about how, against the backdrop of common interests, even people who are completely different from each other can get closer and become friends. Meticulous conductor Shinichi Chiaki and sloppy pianist Megumi Noda are two people who are so different from each other but yet find a common language. Of course - after all, they both adore music and devote all their energy to classes and preparation for competitions. And there it’s not far from romance... First of all, the title will be of interest to the female audience, for whom it was originally intended, but all other viewers will also have something to look at. This is especially true of how detailed Nodame Cantabile examines classical music and the work of the orchestra - there is a lot to learn. It was thanks to this title that I fell in love with the classics. And the comedy in Nodame Cantabile turned out to be very, very worthy.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad
To be very brief: BECK is Nana for men , with more emphasis on music and less on romance and relationships. As for me, BECK turned out to be more harmonious and versatile, and the characters in it are revealed more smoothly and fully. This is the story of how a simple, frail guy Yukio Tanaka , becomes a rock musician. Unlike most of the other titles listed in this top, BECK does not promise you instant success as soon as you pick up a guitar. However, if you really want and put all your strength into this matter, then, even if you initially don’t know how to do anything, sooner or later you will be able to reach heights. Music can change life for the better - if only there is a desire. At any age, it's never too late to start.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso ("Your Lie in April")
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso many times , because it is one of the best titles I have ever watched. I recommend it to absolutely every anime fan, regardless of gender or age. Why? Because in Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso you will find the best drama that I have ever encountered, over which even I, a rather cynical and indifferent person, shed a stingy male tear. Even weeks after watching it, you are still impressed by what you saw. In this masterpiece of Japanese animation you will see a well-structured plot, excellent romance, as well as the highest class visual and musical components. After all, classical music is called classic for a reason - it is truly immortal. In my opinion, it is in Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso that its healing power, capable of uniting hearts and souls, is best demonstrated.
Well, let's sum it up. The Japanese love and know how to make two types of titles: anime about sports and anime about music. And about the most diverse and unusual music. I am sure that in the list I created, everyone will find a title to their liking, since I tried to include in it works of a wide variety of genres and trends, which, with their other characteristics, may be of interest to the viewer. Listen to good music and watch the best anime - and you will be happy!
