To survive, ghouls feed on human flesh. To do this, they have to look for the bodies of suicides or kill people themselves.

After an organ transplant, the main character becomes a ghoul, but only half. At the same time, he has to obtain human flesh for food, like everyone else. Ratings

Characters – 2.0. The old characters don't develop, and the new ones even less so. Kaneki is more annoying than in the first season.

Plot – 2.0. The script written is disgusting and completely illogical. Why couldn't they just use the manga and follow it completely?

Drawing – 9.0. Approximately at the level of the first season - everything is also pleasing to the eye.

Music – 10.0. Gorgeous. Guitar + piano = success.

Pathosity - over 9999. That's what it is, but in terms of pathos it is difficult to compete with Tokyo Ghoul √A.

First season

The plot of the anime Tokyo Ghoul

The Tokyo Ghoul anime release date is July 4, 2014. Until September 19, the Japanese showed all 12 episodes of the first season.

According to the plot of "Tokyo Ghoul", the story begins with Kaneki's acquaintance with the mysterious and pretty girl Ridze. As a result, she turns out to be a ghoul. The young people go on a date, and after that the girl asks the young man to accompany her home, lures her to a deserted place, intending to eat her. However, at the last moment, metal beams collapse on them. Ridze dies on the spot, and Kaneki is saved by doctors. In the struggle for life, doctors transplant the girl’s internal organs to him, without fully finding out who she really is.

After the operation, the young man feels that something is happening to him, he is changing. Regular food becomes disgusting to him, and he is constantly hungry. Finally, at the end of episode 1 of season 1 of Tokyo Ghoul, the main character realizes that he himself has partially turned into a monster.

Kaneki will have to adapt to life in a new guise. The owner of the Anteiku cafe, Yoshimura, helps him in this. The establishment gathers ghouls from surrounding areas. And he supplies them with food if they are unable to hunt on their own.

Studying with Kaneki at the university is Nishiki Nishio, who is also a ghoul, which Ken had never even suspected before. In addition, it turns out that Nishiki has started a hunt for his best friend Hide. He will have to confront the werewolf in order to save the life of his comrade.

In the episode "White Dove", Kaneki joins Anteiku. Yoshimura teaches him various wisdom that will be useful in his new life, teaches him to adapt to the human world. Tohka explains in detail how ghoul society works. When another ghoul, Shu Tsukiyama, appears in the cafe, he begins to show suspicious interest in the young man.

In the next episode, Kaneki decides to get closer to Tsukiyama, although Toki warns the main character against this. At the same time, he is constantly tormented by the feeling that something is threatening him, that someone is preparing a trap for him. It turns out that all these fears were not in vain.

In the episode "Scar", Kaneki miraculously escapes from a gourmet ghoul dinner alive. But Tsukiyama is still obsessed with eating it. Therefore, he prepares another trap for the main character: he kidnaps Nishio’s girlfriend, who is an ordinary person. Nishiki himself was wounded and is now unable to fight. Kaneki and Tohka realize that they have to face Tsukiyama together.

In the battle against Kanyuki and Toki, Tsukiyama is defeated. Moreover, at the last moment, Nishiki, who has come to his senses, comes to their aid. Events in recent days have drawn additional police attention to the 20th district of Tokyo, where ghouls live. The city's best investigators, Kotaro Amona and Kureo Mado, arrive here. They need to find out what's really going on here. There is a serious danger looming over the ghouls.

In the episode "Captive", Mado kills Ryoko during a fight. Tohka wants to take revenge on him, and to do this she tracks down Kotaro, attacking the investigator and his employees. She manages to kill one person, but then Mado appears, who slightly wounds the ghoul girl. Toka is forced to hide. Kaneki tells her that he also wants to fight against the investigators. To do this, he takes out a mask from Uta.

In the episode "Cycle", Investigator Mado tracks down Ryoko Hinami's daughter. She has to escape from Anteiku. Tohka and Kaneki go looking for her. The main character will have to fight Kotaro. In this fight, he tries to defend himself more without resorting to attacks. because I am sure that then he will be able to demonstrate and prove to people: by their nature, ghouls are the same as they are. So Kaneki seeks to convince people that they do not have to be exterminated. However, during the battle he flies into a rage that he is unable to contain. Amon goes into hiding and Mado dies.

In the episode "The Birdcage", Hinami begins to live with Tohka after her fight with Mado. All this time, Kotaro is deeply worried about the loss of a close friend, who was also a faithful comrade for him. However, he does not leave work. Now he is sent to the 11th district of Tokyo, where there are also many ghouls who have finally escaped the control of the police.

The trio from Aogiri kidnap the main character of the cartoon "Tokyo Ghoul". This is an underground society of werewolves that Ridze is interested in. At the same time, Kotaro gets a new ghoul hunting partner. This is the carefree and eccentric Juzo Suzuei.

In the episode "Fighting Spirit", Kaneki's friends gather at the Anteiku Cafe to save him. The main character is beaten by Jason, who himself turns out to be one of the members of Aogiri. He is one of the werewolves who kidnapped him. Just at this moment the police begin to storm their lair. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Kaneki's friends try to free him.

The final episode of the first season was called "Ghoul". In it, Jason tortures Kaneki. He begins to have visions: Ridze appears to him, offering to accept the essence of a ghoul, abandoning the remnants of humanity that still remain in him. Kaneki's hair turns gray, after which he gains new strength and fights Jason. The main character wins this confrontation. In the season finale, Kaneki eats Jason's corpse.

What is this anime about?

The anime Tokyo Ghoul takes place in the city of Tokyo, which is inhabited by mysterious humanoid creatures known as ghouls. They are supernatural creatures that eat humans to survive, mainly because their bodies cannot digest human food.

Despite this, some of them tried to eat regular food, but it turned out to be the most disgusting thing a ghoul could ever taste. The only thing a ghoul can enjoy, just like a normal person, is coffee!

People know about ghouls and are afraid that some unlucky night they will be hunted. Thus begins the story of Ken Kaneki, who finds himself on a simple date with a girl who loves the same books as him.

Little did he know that this would be the start of his new life as a ghoul due to some interesting and sad events.

Who is this anime suitable for?

Tokyo Ghoul is an anime in which viewers will explore the situation that Kaneki finds himself in when he is forced to be both a ghoul and a human. The story takes place in modern Tokyo, where people are mostly active during the day and travel in pairs or groups at night to protect themselves from unnecessary attack.

As is usually the case these days. Except that in life you don't risk becoming someone's food. Well, you almost always don’t take risks.

Anyone who enjoys gory action scenes as well as a great storyline will definitely appreciate how Tokyo Ghoul depicts the transition from a normal human to a ghoul and how the latter can exist in the normal world.

What's so attractive about the series?

Tokyo Ghoul has a realistic perspective on how society will try to coexist with a monstrous race. Still trying to protect the city from those who would take advantage of humanity, the police must bring justice to the ghouls that are terrorizing the people of Tokyo.

The character development in Tokyo Rumble is based on several people who want nothing more than to just live in the world. The visuals and fight scenes in the anime are pretty cool.

Ken Kaneki was originally born human. His father died early, and his mother was an avid workaholic. After his mother's death due to overwork, Kaneki lived alone and read nothing but his father's books. That was until he went on a date with an amazingly beautiful girl who shared his interests.

He's pretty much a regular nice guy who cares about those around him. Always cautious and at the same time naive, Kaneki strikes viewers as a person you can relate to and understand his morals.

Toka is a ghoul who has, to some extent, mastered the ability to disguise herself as a human. Burdened with a troubled past, she works at a café that serves as a haven for other ghouls to relax and eat.

Tohka saves Kaneki when he first realized his new self and takes him to a coffee shop to tell him about the ghoul world he is now a part of. Tohka is actually a very kind person who eats regular food cooked by her friend, even though it tastes disgusting to a ghoul.

When one of her friends gets into trouble, you can count on Tohka to be there for her, even if it costs her life. She is a very strong ghoul who, no matter what, always takes care of her friends.

Review of "Tokyo Ghoul" (there are spoilers!)

Tokyo Ghoul is a very interesting anime that presents many well-thought-out situations. The fact that there is a society coexisting with monsters is incredible. Getting to know Rize and seeing how she enjoys killing was a great opportunity for the series.

Tokyo Ghoul is actually about ghouls in Tokyo and how they live quite busy lives.

But there is a bad side: if a ghoul resists his hunger for flesh, he becomes almost insane when the hunger takes over. This sometimes causes ghouls to go wild in search of the nearest available prey. Just knowing that in the first part of the first episode hooked me. From this point on, the story gets to the point of feeling sorry for some ghouls and what it's like to be one.

The power that a ghoul possesses is superhuman strength and the ability to manipulate his blood for combat. The character development in the series is good, showing both sides of the story of both the ghouls and the doves (the human opponents of the ghouls).

When you hear both sides of the story, it's hard to choose who you sympathize with most.

tokyo-ghoul-fanart-625x500 Review and characters of Tokyo Ghoul - Resisting the desire to eat

You want Kaneki to just give in and eat the man so he can have the power and skills to protect those he cares about. Starting with his best friend who was seriously injured and Hinami's mother who was killed by pigeons. But at the same time, you couldn't help but feel what he was going through and how he didn't want to admit that he was different from the average person.

That's when the story takes a different direction and what puzzles me the most is how war suddenly breaks out shortly after the death of investigator Kureo Mado, who was a crazy man obsessed with hunting ghouls. This is where the series takes the fast track and gets ahead of the plot that was initially developed for more than half of the series.

With a war raging between a group of ghouls and the CCG police, a new character called One-Eyed Owl is introduced and she will become the most powerful ghoul ever seen. At the same time, Kaneki is tortured by Yakumo for several days, where he cuts off all the fingers of his limbs and releases the Red Head Centipede where there are open wounds. During this time, Kaneki experiences crazy thoughts in his head when he begins to see Rize.

Kaneki discusses with her whether he should lose any hope in his human side and let the ghoul he now is take over. When he gave up, Kaneki broke the chains binding him and attacked Yakumo in the most exciting way. I felt that this part of his mental state was a great way to show the audience what he was going through and why he made the decision to embrace the ghoul within him. With these two scenes, a new character and Yakumo's defeat, the series ends.

Overall, I think Tokyo Ghoul is a must-watch series for any anime fan, as long as you're okay with gore, of which there is plenty. In addition, there is a censored and uncensored version of the series, which will allow you to get more into the story.

Main character

Ken Kaneki

To better understand and get to know this series, let's talk in more detail about the main characters of Tokyo Ghoul.

The central character of the series is 18 years old. Ken Kaneki is a first year university student. As a result of a fateful coincidence, he becomes half ghoul, half human.

Kaneki does his best to hide his transformation from those around him, which frightens him. Not admitting that he is becoming a ghoul, he tries to continue living a normal human life. However, fate itself gives him a surprise when he gets a job as a waiter at the Anteiku cafe. This is a place that supplies human flesh to ghouls who are unable to hunt on their own.

He takes on several of Ridze's characteristics - the power of regeneration, the left eye of a ghoul, and the inability to digest human food. Until he meets the other ghouls in the cafe, he considers them cruel and inhuman creatures. Realizing that he has only become half a ghoul, but at the same time has ceased to be human, he suspects that he will no longer find a place for himself in this world.

The main character of "Tokyo Ghoul" is a very educated young man. He loves to read, and in most cases he is quiet, modest and reserved. He is ready to trust strangers and initially treats people well, which often puts him in a difficult and even dangerous situation. Over time, Kaneki's left eye begins to show signs of a ghoul, forcing Kaneki to wear an eyepatch.

After his battle with Aogiri, he leaves the cafe, founding his own team of ghouls. In the second season, he decides to join Aogiri, starting to work with Ayato.

After a long confrontation, he is defeated by Arima. Kaneki is forced to start a new life, left without any memories of his past. His new identity is that of an investigator first class who works as a mentor in the Quinx squad. He is supervised by Kise Arima and Akira Mado. Concurrently, he also becomes a member of a special unit, which Mado heads.

Kaneki meets Haise. He seems to him to be a good-natured and reliable person, moreover, a self-sufficient partner who can be relied on at any time; he shows sincere interest in his work, and, in fact, in everything he does. Haise demonstrates loyalty and devotion, cares for the Quinxes, respects them, promising to protect them if necessary.

Like Kaneki, Haise Sasaki loves to read books in his free time, strives to achieve maximum heights in everything, works very hard, while still managing to remain polite and friendly. He prefers to work in a group rather than alone.

When Mado and Haise arrive at the restaurant, Haise shows him his habit of “playing on words.” In addition, Haise has a tendency to scratch his head, then it immediately becomes clear to everyone around him that he is confused, cannot find the right solution, or is experiencing some kind of discomfort. Haise is very gentle towards others. Therefore, he regularly has problems with subordinates who refuse to listen to him.

Despite the fact that Kaneki previously took on the form of a ghoul, Haise is unable to cope with this. He is disgusted with the other side of his essence, although he makes attempts to accept himself as he is.

At the same time, during a fight, Haise is able to think very quickly, and he also has excellent methods of deduction. Sasaki wants to know himself from the inside in order to regain previously lost memories. However, he fears that as a result he will lose his current friends and memories of them.

During the final battle, which takes place at Tsukiyama's headquarters, the main character manages to regain his memory and lost identity. He finally remembers everything that happened to him. After the battle with Suzuya, he turns into a huge caterpillar, which then separates, and all the other heroes fight with it almost until the end of the season.

Touka Kirishima

Touka Kirishima

Toka is the main female character of this series. She is a ghoul girl who is 16 years old. In the list of characters in "Tokyo Ghoul" she is definitely mentioned, since she plays a unique role in the process of initialization of the main character, helping him realize who he really is.

At her age, she works part-time at Anteiku Cafe and then goes to school. Despite the fact that he is a werewolf, he organically joins the human community. She decided for herself that she would keep the fact that she was a ghoul secret until the last possible opportunity.

At the same time, Toka is a very vindictive girl, whose actions can often seem simply reckless to others. She tends to commit violence regularly. At first, Tohka hated Kaneki, believing that he would never be able to understand or truly understand what it was like to be a real ghoul. But then he becomes his faithful comrade and partner, helping him develop his fighting qualities.

After his rescue from the 11th district, Kaneki begins to show sincere romantic feelings for him. She takes on the role of Hinami's guardian when her parents are killed by investigators who seek to exterminate ghouls, believing them to be bloodthirsty and merciless creatures. It is noteworthy that Toki has ornithophobia, that is, a fear of birds.

Characters

I'll start, as usual, with the main character, Kaneki Ken. I remember in a previous review I called it the weakest point of Tokyo Ghoul. Who would have thought that this character could be even more annoying . It would seem that he had ceased to be a useless weakling, the situation should have improved. However, the pathos that the screenwriters endowed him with in return only causes more irritation. Yes, I would rather watch a weak character crying on every corner than a strong one, whose every action causes an overdose of pathos. Ah, this unhappy face, looking into the distance with a tired look. Oh, those arrogant phrases like “I want to become stronger to protect everyone. If I don't get stronger, everyone will die . Moreover, even despite the strength he has gained, Kaneki still manages to beat everyone to the punch.

In addition to the dull main character, in keeping with the worst traditions of the first season, we continue to be bombarded with crowds of supporting characters who appear for five minutes only to disappear into thin air. However, if in the first season their appearance was at least somehow justified by the plot, then in Tokyo Ghoul √A they do not explain to us at all where the new heroes came from and for what purpose they appeared. First, twins with red eyes, then some pumped up Mongol handing out cabbage soup to the unfortunate Kaneki, then a blond man with a red scarf - who they were, why the hell they were doing what they were doing was absolutely unclear to me. And the most disgusting thing is that the anime characters (unlike us) know each other, which puts the viewer in an even more uncomfortable position: like we’ve known each other for a long time, but you don’t need to know about our past, figure it out yourself. Rare disrespect.

Kureo Mado

Kureo Mado

Another important character in this series is the representative of the people, Kureo Mado. He is a first-class investigator who, along with his partner Kotaro, hunts ghouls in an effort to exterminate them. This is a ruthless warrior who has been in many battles and battles. Even strong ghouls are not always able to cope with him, he is so powerful.

He always strives to trust his intuition, which almost never fails him. As a result, he turns into a person obsessed with ghouls, their destruction and collecting weapons. These passions ultimately destroy him.

Mado tracks down Hinamio, whose mother he killed with his own hands. But Toka prevents him from dealing with her daughter. In the fight, she kills the first class investigator.

It becomes known that his cherished goal was the desire to take revenge on one of the ghouls, known by the nickname One-Eyed Owl. Many years ago he killed his wife. Mado himself considers ghouls to be scum who only imitate people. Often this seems funny to him.

Impressions of the audience

In their reviews of Tokyo Ghoul, viewers note that the series, although not a masterpiece of Japanese animation, is worthy of being watched.

Of the undoubted advantages, most fans of Japanese cinema note the well-developed dark character designs, as well as the atmosphere, which from time to time becomes very dramatic. This is a virtue that few animated series have.

At the same time, anime connoisseurs, in their reviews of “Tokyo Ghoul,” admit that the plot, although solid and tightly put together, uses old and well-tested formulas. There is nothing special or surprising in it; all the steps and actions of the characters are well predictable and can be calculated in advance quite easily.

The viewer is treated to a typical observation of villains and discussions about friendship and love. True, all this was played out in a bloodier and more dramatic scenery than in the average Japanese series. Here we still have to pay tribute to the horror subgenre; the creators meet the given standard.

Summing up, we can conclude that this is a very high-quality series that will definitely appeal to all lovers and fans of the genre.

Plot

He became even more inadequate . Why do characters do certain things? Why the hell was it necessary to save Jason's inadequate henchman? Why did Kaneki need to break into the prison and fight the Mongol? Any episode now consists of either useless conversations or unnecessary fights. And it’s hard for me to decide which of the above was more boring to watch. Especially when you consider that the outcome of most battles is completely illegal. I still don’t understand how ordinary people, even armed with weapons (kagunes) that resemble swords or axes, can fight ghouls on equal terms. However, in the anime there are scenes where Amon fights alone against 20-30 ghouls, armed with two one-handed swords. In general, it’s strange.

There are hundreds of similar minor omissions/shortcomings/jambs in the plot. Perhaps it was because of them that the plot was never able to form a single pleasant picture, and looks like a broken vase that they were too lazy to glue back together . And this is even more striking given the fact that the plot in Tokyo Ghoul √A does not coincide with the plot of the manga. So why the hell couldn’t you even bring your own plot to a sane state? It’s one thing to attribute mistakes to the source, but another when you, for some unknown reason, discard the source and invent your own story based on it.

I can’t help but mention once again about the increased amount of pathos. It’s not just Kaneki who is guilty of this: now literally every character begins to utter sublime phrases. Ooh, I want to become stronger . Wow, if we had met under different circumstances, we would have had a heart-to-heart talk. Ooh, I will fight in the name of humanity/father/sister/second cousin . All this with serious facial expressions and arrogant poses. It's like watching ten episodes of Naruto again.
